Imagine If

identity in christ intimacy with god

Seek and you will find…
Matthew 7:7

We’ve been sharing about the importance of diligence in ones relationship with God and how developing deep and healthy relationships takes effort, consistency, faithfulness and commitment.

Imagine a husband and wife who   only spend one hour together one day per week. Imagine that this couple only thinks about or talks to their spouse when they “need” something. How connected do you think that relationship would be? Some people can unintentionally live like this in their relationship with God.

Using the example of a married couple can help people see, in a more practical light, the importance of diligence in relationships. When thinking of it like this, it becomes exceedingly clear that living in a low level of commitment in your relationship with God is not going to produce the closeness and intimacy that the Lord truly desires with you.

God is not someone who only calls when he “needs” something or who is only interested in spending a shallow amount of time together. He’s not the one who is too busy or indifferent. In truth, God loves you with all of his heart, and that is why he paid the highest price of sending his Son to remove sin and restore us all back to a right relationship with him. His desire is for all believers to live in him and love him with all that they are.

God has extended the invitation to have a deep love relationship with him, it’s up to each individual to continually respond in faith.

If you have any desire to be closer to God, be encouraged! God is the one who has been drawing you to himself. Don’t allow shame or guilt to stop you from moving forward, but rather, thank God that he has made this relationship available and take whatever necessary steps forward to respond to the Lord’s wooing.

You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. Jeremiah 29:13
