Fellowship In Faith
I thank my God always when I remember you in my prayers, because I hear of your love and of the faith that you have toward the Lord Jesus and for all the saints, and I pray that your participation in the faith may become effective as you understand and experience all the good things we have in Christ. Philemon 4-6
Glad you are reading this today! We are excited to go deeper into this short prayer from the letter Paul wrote to Philemon.
It’s always a beautiful thing when someone else sees the good fruit produced through your life because of Christ and gives thanks to God for it. Jesus himself teaches, “Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16) Paul encourages Philemon at the beginning of this letter by letting him know that he thanks God for the way he has heard of the love Philemon has for Christ and the saints. Clearly, Philemon lived his life in such a way where others could see his great love for the Lord Jesus and his people.
Take a moment to reflect… Do you live your life in such a way that others clearly see your love for God and his people?
Paul prays as Philemon continues fellowshipping in the faith, it will produce a fruitful, effective and experiential understanding of who Christ is and all he has made available for those who believe in him.
This scripture from Philemon teaches that participating in the faith can produce and promote fuller understanding of who Christ is and who you are in him. If you are not currently involved in fellowshipping regularly with other believers, we encourage you to take steps forward in that area and seek the Lord for what that looks like in your life.
If you are involved in fellowship, we encourage you to keep praying and asking the Lord to use your fellowship to bring greater understanding of all the good things that are in Christ.
Remember, believers are not called to meet together aimlessly, but rather to encourage one another and stir each other up to love and good works, so that they can know Christ more and glorify him with their lives.
