Fixed On Jesus
…Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith…
Hebrews 12:1-2
We want to share a breakthrough to a struggle we know a lot of believers have.
The struggle is: Letting what others do or don’t do matter more than what God has already done through Christ.
Any time someone does a wrong to another person, there’s always the choice for that person to elevate what’s been done to them higher than what Christ has done.
Think about it…
He was wronged so that we could be free and he never sinned in his heart against anyone who did wrong to him. He was the purest person that ever walked this planet, yet he was wronged in every possible way you could be. Betrayed, abandoned, falsely accused, mocked, beaten, rejected, humiliated… just to name a few.
It’s “natural” to live for the moment and let a situation cause you to take personal offense and respond in the flesh. It’s “supernatural” to have an eternal perspective and let what God has done for you be the empowerment that allows you to pass through suffering with compassion, understanding and joy in your heart, just like Jesus did.
Here’s a few ways to experience breakthrough:
- Always seek God to give you the perspective of Jesus.
- Always set your mind on the love that God has for you.
- Always remember Christ endured suffering so that you could be free.
- Always guard your thoughts and speak the truth, especially in the moments where you are tempted to focus on what others are doing or not doing.
- Always receive that he poured out his love on the cross so that you could be satisfied and no longer need other people to be a certain way in order for you to be okay.
“But even if you should suffer for what is right, you are blessed. Do not fear their intimidation; do not be shaken. But in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord.”
1 Peter 3:14-15
