Shield Of Faith
In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; Ephesians 6:16
Walking by faith in the truth, not feelings, allows us to walk in victory over the enemy. Often times, believers just want the fiery darts of the enemy to stop. God did not give us the shield of faith so that the enemy would stop shooting darts. He gave us the shield of faith to extinguish all of the fiery darts that come our way.
The shield of faith is not something to be taken up occasionally, but should be used constantly. Scripture says, “in all circumstances”, which means the worst, the best and every situation in between.
You don’t have to be afraid of the fiery darts of the enemy. Remember that Jesus already conquered death and has the victory. Jesus said, “Do not fear, only believe.” (Mark 5:36)
Here’s 3 practical steps as you continue to grow in wielding the shield of faith:
- Identify the darts of the enemy. “For we are not unaware of Satan’s schemes.”
(2 Corinthians 2:11) - Guard each and every thought. “We take every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:5)
- Declare in faith the truth of God’s Word. “And in keeping with what is written: “I believed, therefore I have spoken,” we who have the same spirit of faith also believe and therefore speak.” (2 Corinthians 4:13)
